What is School Choice?

School Choice is a marketing term used by politicians and lobbyists to promote increased government spending at the ever-increasing expense to taxpayers. Self-identified "conservative" politicians are championing school choice, which is the very epitome of government overreach and big government. There is nothing conservative about the program. It is the opposite of freedom and empowerment of parents.

Real School Choice

We already have school choice. Parents have the option to:
- Send their children to taxpayer-funded public schools,
- Enroll their children in private schools, or
- Opt to homeschool their children.

Government School Choice

Government school choice is a process in which the government utilizes taxpayer dollars to allocate funding to families to be spent on **government-approved education** for private school, homeschooling, and other educational options. These programs always result in:
- Government oversight,
- Regulations, and
- Mandates, as proven in states that have already adopted these initiatives.

The bottom line is: "What the government funds, it runs." Money never comes without strings.

Public School Equivalency

Participating in the government school choice program means the requirements of the **Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)**—which killed choice education—must be instituted.

This means:
"All education must be aligned to the same post-secondary readiness standards as laid out in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act."

Homeschooling in Your State

Each state has its own laws regarding homeschooling. Check with your state to determine its homeschool laws.

In my home state of Tennessee:
- The majority of homeschoolers are registered with Category IV schools.
- We know and understand the strings attached to school choice. We oppose all government school choice legislation.

Globalization of Education

We know and understand that the agenda behind government school choice—including ESAs, vouchers, scholarships, and tax credits—is to globalize education.

We oppose government school choice agendas because we know and understand that these types of initiatives lead to:
- The destruction of true private education by making all forms of education government-controlled
